Before coming to India: All Nationalities need a Tourist visa to enter India . Please apply for it at the nearest Indian Embassy. You do not require an official invitation letter from VSFP. A Tourist visa can be granted to anyone entering the country, with the condition that they will not earn any income during their stay. You may also need a few vaccinations to enter India ; this depends on your home country. Ask your sending organization for more details or visit the website of the World Health Organization (W.H.O.): www.who.org for the latest updates. The Meetings: · The group will have an orientation meeting at the start of the camp to inform about the project and the rules (DO’s and DON’T’s) that have to be followed. Every working day of the camp, we will have daily meetings, it’s a time to discuss, re-view problems and evaluate on the day’s performance and to plan for the next day. Please feel absolutely free to share your opinions, to give ideas and to discuss anything, which may concern you. We expect all of you to take actively part in these meetings. Accommodation: At the Guest House, in shared rooms. Accommodation can vary a lot in our camps from youth hostels, resorts, schools, huts or empty houses (and sometimes in tents). The accommodation will be simple but comfortable and clean, but be prepared to live with simple facilities during these two weeks. We expect volunteers to keep the accommodation clean and tidy, during and after the work camp. Food: South Indian food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Filtered water is always available for drinking purposes. Free Time: Weekends are free! The volunteers will not work on Saturdays and Sundays. They can plan their free time accordingly. The camp leaders are there to provide you with the necessary information about interesting excursions and trips around the campsite. Things to Bring : Pencils; Color-pen sets; Notebooks; Small presents like toys; Sleeping Bag; Mosquito repellent; Things from your home for the country presentation (music, books, pictures); Camera; Suntan/ Sun Screen Lotion; Medicines you may require.
